All eyez on Perfection

The New England Patriots are the best team in the National Football League. They have the best ranked offense and one of the best ranked defenses. The big thrill about this specific season is that to see if the New England Patriots could possibly have a perfect season. Most people included myself have predicted that the New England Patriots will be undefeated during the regular season. However, most people are speculating that could the Patriots possibly have a perfect season meaning to say that they end the regular season 17 -0 and then win the next three game and become Super Bowl champions. No other team has been able to accomplish this since the 1972 Miami Dolphins. The funny thing is that as I watched the interview of the 72 dolphins, they were pleased that another team could possibly match their talents in a single season, but the embarrassing part of the interview was that the Miami Dolphins of this year might go 0-17. It is funny how the Patriots are about to break the Dolphins record, and yet the Dolphin team itself is about to create another record, for no wins in a single season.
No doubt, this season is one of the most amazing seasons I have ever watched. The race to perfection has everyone hooked to their seats. The question becomes, is their any team that could stop the Patriots from completing perfection? In my opinion the only team that could defeat the Patriots is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even though they were handed an embarrassing loss by the Patriots I believe this feud is yet to be over. The smack talk and boos that the Steelers heard in last Sundays game will come back to haunt the Patriots in the AFC Championship game. I predict the Patriots and the Steelers in the AFC championship game and Steelers will be victorious.

All eyez on the Warriors

The Golden State warriors have to live up to big expectations, after coming off a year as they did. In the last 11 years, last year was the first playoff appearance for the Warriors. Being an eighth seat in the Western Conference, during the first round they beat the Dallas Mavericks 3-1 defeating the number one seat in the league. In the next round we were unfortunately defeated by the Utah Jazz, but yet the memories of last season has lead the Warriors to be playoff caliber this year.
Unfortunately, the Warriors have started off really slow. With the first five games, we are 0-5. Thus, it has been pretty disappointing for most of the Warrior nation. However, regardless of staring 0-5 the bright news for the Warriors is that they were playing their first five games without one of their stars, Steven Jackson. With this arsenal on offense, the Warriors promise to make another playoff run. So, when Stephen Jackson or " jack" returned to the line, that is the first game the Warriors received a W in the win column. Further, on this 5 game road trip the Warriors have gone 3-1. Finishing off their road trip in Philadelphia, if the Warriors are capable to win again, this will once again put them in the playoff hunt. The fans of Golden State have been waiting a long time to see the Warriors in the championship. If the Warriors are able to do it this year, this will only strengthen the bond between the Warriors and the Warriors nation. In a year that both the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders have failed and had miserable years, we can only hope that the Warriors could bring the Bay Area back into the the picture.

All eyez on the Court

Since I was young, my dream was to become a lawyer. I loved MatLock and would watch it everyday. The suspicion and thrill one has during a court case was so exciting to me that I choose it to be my career. In the process of studying for the LSAT and keeping my G.P.A high,I am also doing an internship. I intern at the Superior court of San Jose. I have several locations in which I can gain knowledge of the court system. I fluctuate from one center to another on a weekly basis, which allows me to gain knowledge in every aspect of civil law. I have gained experience in the following: family law, divorce, adoption, eviction, and restraining orders. The self help centers in San Jose are there to help citizens who are in great need of legal advice. Citizens that cannot afford an attorney often come to us for help and advice on filing a case. Working as an intern, I usually help the customers fill out their " intake forms" which are procedural paper work that all plaintiffs need to file before starting a legal case. I usually help them with their declaration of judgement which is basically a statement that the customer has to make in order to sell it to the judge. Judges make their decisions off of these declarations to see if the case is even valid to move further into the hearing and trail portions.
The internship is great. However, it is not a paid internship so it seems like a waste. On the contrary, the experience that I am receiving from this internship is going to further my knowledge in the legal field. I also believe this internship would better my chances of getting into a good law school. However, the most difficultly thing to handle at court is the terrifying stories that are being told to you. When I go to help a customer out, they often have to tell me their story and what happened to them. Especially when customers come into get restraining orders on another person. Mothers tell me about their abusive husbands and sons, while daughters tell me about their abusive boyfriends or dads. Sometimes, the stories become so overwhelming that I have to excuse my self from the customer in order to get a break. Working in the legal profession is not just working to give people advice, but it is also working to help and understand people in extreme need for comfort and support.

All Eyez on Drugz

Today we will talk about drugs. Not what they do to you, but what is the slang terminology on the streets. In essence, you probably have figured out the fact that I just have run out of things to write about. Drugs on the streets are a great source of revenue for criminals and gang members. Cocaine on the streets is known by many alias. People often call it" coc, yola, Yolanda, and White Girl". Cociane is usually distributed in grams or what is called an " 8 ball". "8 ball" is 3.5 grams of cocaine. This is the highest amount of cocaine that dealers usually sell on the streets. Any thing over that, drug dealers are usually afraid to distribute in fear of severe penalties that can be posed on them by the law.
On the street you can also find Ecstasy. It is often called " thizz, pill, or X ". There are several different types of pills that you can buy. They are formed by the amount of M.D.M.A which stands for methylene dioxy meth amphetamine (http://www.csdp.org/publicservice/whatwekn.htm). You can usually buy Ecstasy pills in what they call " stacks". You can purchase a single, double, triple, and quadruple stacks. The higher the level, the more M.D.M.A. However, most Ecstasy pills are mixed with crystal meth, so they are usually dirty pills. However, you can purchase pure Ecstasy pills which are more expensive, but they do not contain any crystal meth, only M.D.M.A. Pill prices average from $2 dollars to $25 dollars, depending on what stack they are.
Finally there is marijuana. Often called " dank, weed, bomb, fire, green, and yes, grass". Weed is the easiest of all the drugs to be purchased on the streets. You can purchase weed in " tensions (.5 grams), dubs (1.0 grams), eights (3.5 grams), quarter's (7.0 grams, half O's 14.0 grams), and Zips (28.0 grams)". It is the most used illegal substance or drug on the street. This is the only drug that many support in legalizing, especially do to the fact that it serves as a medical purpose for patients undergoing chemotherapy.

All Eyez on my predictions

I could find nothing else to talk about for my blog this week. While I was pondering, for some odd reasons I began to make predicitons on the Super Bowl and Basketball champions. The strongest team in the AFC to me is the Raiders. Actually, that was a joke. In my opinion the two teams that will battle for the AFC crown, will be the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots. These two teams are obviously the most gifted and talented franchises currently in the NFL. Both teams have an explosive offense that can light up the score broad. For the past five games, the Patriots have been averaging 34 points a game. Respectively, that means that Tom Brady and the Patriots every game score at least five touchdowns. Other offenses in the league, besides the Colts do not have the talent or firepower to put up these types of numbers. The point of the game is, what ever team scores the most points in the game, that team wins. If you can never outscore your opponent, then it does not matter how good of a defense you have, at the end you will still lose.
I would talk about my predictions for the NFC, but I believe that is irrelevant. No matter what team makes it out of the NFC, the winner of the AFC championship will win the Super Bowl.
My predicitons for the NBA are as following: San Antonio Spurs verses the Boston Celtics. San Antonio, once again will be the defending western conference champions. With Garnett and Shaq on the east, there is no sufficient big man that can handle Tim Duncan. The defense and the coachimg methods that the Spurs have, will once again generate them in the NBA championship. On the east, I believe new comer Kevin Garnett will make a big impact. He will lead the Celtics into the finals as Eastern Conference champions. The winner between the Spurs and the Celtics, that will be hard to determine? Tony Parker, Manu Ginobalii, and Tim Duncan will be head up against Paul Pierce, Ray allen and Kevin Garnett. The series should be great.

EYEZ on Education

Currently I am taking a Sociology class at San Jose State. Education in Society is a very interesting class, as we get to explore questions about education that we never considered to be problematic. Do all students get an equal opportunity in education? The answer that I have considered is , no. Depending on where you live and what school district you are in, determines what level of education you will receive. Better school districts are obviously in the better and richer neighborhoods. In such schools parents pledge money to these schools in large amounts in order for the school to have extra circular activities, such as music and sports. While the parents of the poor school districts cannot afford to pledge money to their schools because of their financial situation. Thus, the poor school districts cannot have extra programs for their students. Richer schools have more utilities and resources that they can give to their students, which helps and enables these students to prosper in the future.
Further, at the college level is the education level the same for every student regardless of what school they go to? The answer is actually yes. All colleges, give or take teach the students the same amount of things regardless of what school you attend. However, prestigious schools like Stanford and UC Berkley can provide something more then education, these schools can give their students status. We as a society legitimatize major institutions like Berkeley because of their name. If a college students graduates from San Jose State compared to UC Berkley, the student from UC Berkley will most likely get the job because of the name of the college he attends. Employers want to be proud and say, yes we employ graduates form Berkeley and Standford, not mediocre schools like San Jose Sate. However, in reality the education that both students received is probably equivalent, but the status and prestige of ones school can be the dominating factor in employment. With considering inequalities of this nature, can we as society really say that are education system is truly fair and equal? After taking this class, it has made me speculate the accuracy of this notion. People say no matter what you do, as along as you have an education you can become successful. However, in my opinion the saying should go like this, no matter what school you got to,the only sure way to know that you will be successful is to go to certain prestigious schools like Stanford and Berkeley.

All Eyez In the Air

The greatest basketball player of all time is the one and only Michael Jordan. Mike as most people call him is probably the best athlete of this century. Winning 6 national championships, 6 MVP of the Finals awards, and 5 time Most Valuable Player in the NBA Jordan has left his mark on the game (http://www.23jordan.com/achievements.htm). During the 1990s the Chicago Bulls won 6 championships. Most people speculate that if Jordan had not retired for two years because of the death of his father, the bulls and Jordan would have had a combined 8 rings. Thus, Jordan and the Bulls were the dynasty of the 1990s.
Jordan's love for the game started when he was young. He would always play against his older brother to get better. When Jordan went to high school his freshman year he tried out for the varsity team. Unfortunately Jordan was cut from that team because his skills were not good enough. Most people would have quit in situations like this, but Jordan was never a quitter. Jordan practiced extra hard and the next year when he was a Sophomore, Jordan once again tried out for the varsity team and this time he made sure that he would make it. After High school Jordan went on to attend North Carolina University. As a tar heel he brought his university one national championship by hitting the game winning shot, which today to most sports analyst is known as " the Shot". After college he became the Chicago Bulls third overall draft pick and you already know what is the story after that.
Jordan is considered to be the single man that changed the game of basketball. Basketball was mostly dominated by big men such as Kareem Abdul Jabar and Larry Bird. Until Jordan there was no guard or small man that could take over a game and lead a team to victory. Jordan however, became that man and transformed the game from big to small. Thus, many athletes today like Kobe and Lebran admire Jordan and have taken own a similar role.
Michael Jordan is not only a basketball player, but he is a role model for all kids around the world. Jordan makes more money off his shoe sales then most people can make during their whole life. Jordan also is sponsored by Nike and Gatorade. Hanes, Jumbo Hot dogs, and Jordan Cologne are just other endorsements that this legend has mingled with. This multi millionaire has left his mark on the game of basketball. The best way to prove this fact is by considering that Jordan is in an elite class of players that actually have their statue out side their teams arena.
